Blog Post #4 Questions

After watching the videos I thought about the importance of questions and how they should be asked. Each question should be asked in a way in which it taps into the students thinking. The questions should drive students to seek answer, and require them to ask more questions. As teachers, it is our job to question kids to help them learn meaningful information and question them about things that creates room for thinking outside the box.

We should ask more open-ended questions. These type of questions require students to elaborate more on a subject or even think of possible different outcomes or solutions to a question. An open-ended question provides more learning and a simple saying yes or no answer is not enough. A yes or no is a response to a close-ended question. With closed-ended questions, a student can simply say yes or no and will not be required to think about the question or search for possible answers. A question asked the correct way could enrich the student learning experience. A question asked the incorrect way could lead to yes or no answers. How will you ask questions? What are questions to you?

  1. "The questions should drive students to seek answer, and require them to ask more questions." ...drive students to seek answers and require them to ask more questions.
